Suki and Skie's Balloon Race

So I redid the entire shading of the girls' bodies, bringing Skie to her more updated skin tone, much less orange, and shading both of them to actually have some depth.  I liked how the old one looked, but I think this works better and is closer to where I'm aiming for with my painting.  I Still need much work, and I'm finding more things that work slowly, but thank you all for your patience.

So this is a belated birthday gift for that I also took some effort to experiment with colouring tricks and techniques.

The long story short, I did not succeed, but I did learn some things that I'm now experimenting with and redoing the pic.  Some things came out well, some things really didn't.

However the basics of shading have gotten away from me.  In my last experiment, I did too hard of transitions, in this one I did too soft.  The whole thing has ended up flat and strange.  I Still like a lot about this but it's not right and I'm going to keep experimenting with it, as I feel like it's a good composition for it.

The content is fun though, Suki and Skie seem to have some magical balloons that huffing into them is filling their own balloons up in kind! I Wonder whose balloon controls whom though?
